Decorate Your Home for Less
Tips &Tricks image If you are tired of looking at the same old décor, redecorating your home can be a smart move. Many people put off redecorating because they feel it will be too expensive, but it does not have to be that way. If you know how to shop and where to get the materials, you can make your home look like a million bucks without breaking the bank or emptying your checkbook.

New Cabinet Hardware
If your kitchen cabinets have seen better days, you might think that the only solution is to rip them up and buy new ones. That is not necessarily the case, however. For the cost of a few cans of stain and some new door hardware, you can make your cabinets look like new without embarking on a major construction project.

Start by removing the existing cabinet hardware and examining its condition. If your cabinet hardware is still in good shape but needs some polishing, soaking it in a cleaning solution can do wonders. If the hardware is truly damaged, you can shop around for new pieces.

While the cabinet hardware is soaking, you can start sanding down the wood on the cabinets and getting ready to apply your new stain. Re-staining the cabinets can make them look like new. Just choose a color that goes well with your existing décor.

Re-purposed Furniture
You probably have a few pieces of furniture that you would like to replace, but you may not have to spend any money at all to get a whole new look. Re-purposing and repainting your old furniture can give it a new lease on life and make your rooms look more elegant.

Painted furniture is always a hot seller at craft shows, and some of the finished pieces go for thousands of dollars, but you can do the same thing at home. All you need is some time and a bit of artistic talent. Choose a paint suitable for wooden furniture, then use your sanding and repainting skills to re-purpose your favorite pieces.

Storage Solutions
If you hate your bathroom, the answer might be as simple as enhancing your storage solutions. There is nothing less attractive than a sink crowded with soaps, shampoos and other personal care items. Installing a few wall-mounted cabinets and overhead shelves can solve your storage dilemma and make even the smallest bathroom look more roomy.

Modern bathrooms often come with built-in shelves, but owners of older homes are not so lucky. You do not have to let that lack of built-in shelving get to you. Just add a few simple storage cabinets and watch your bathroom come to life.

You do not have to spend a fortune to make your home look like new. For less than the cost of remodeling a single room, you can give your whole home a face-lift. You might need to sand a few cabinets and hang a few shelves, but the results will be well worth the effort.
